Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for doubts to be raised about his position after a further convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the club's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Response

Slot highlighted known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a phase like this with performances like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until it is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to the top, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it needs to change.”
