Beloved Actor Pat Finn, Famed For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at 60 Years Old.
Stateside entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in popular programs such as "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles recently after undergoing treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, as reported by media reports.
"Pat considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones stated in a statement.
They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific Television Career
His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.
He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, playing a social organizer known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous well-known programs, such as:
- "King of Queens"
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight series from 2011 to 2018.
His cinematic roles are It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".
A Life in Improv
Away from his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was a member of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat guided, supported, and advised many learners over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.
Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote on social media.
Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
