Manchester United's women's team has finalized a high-profile signing by securing the services of Germany international forward Lea Schuller who joins from Bayern Munich.

The 28-year-old, who has signed a contract that will keep her at the club until June 2029, becomes the club's second signing of the winter transfer period, following the signing of full-back Hanna Lundkvist.

A Proven Goalscorer

The player enjoyed five years at the Bavarian club, featuring in more than 100 games and helping them secure four Bundesliga championships.

For her country, her record is similarly formidable, having scored 54 goals in 82 appearances for Germany.

"From the first conversations I held with head coach Marc Skinner and the club, the aspirations of everyone involved were very clear," commented Schuller.

She featured in the squad that were beaten finalists to England at Euro 2022 and also claimed a third-place finish at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Perfect Fit

"There is still a lot that I want to achieve in my career, and I am convinced that Manchester United is the perfect place to join," she added.

"I feel that the way the team plays of football will really suit my game. I am confident my qualities and experience can help us to realize our aims both in England and in the European competition."

The club's director of women's football, Manchester United's head of women's football, said: "Her scoring prowess is phenomenal, her style of play will give our attack an exciting new edge.

"Her champion's mindset and experience will really help our young and ambitious team as we continue to grow together and compete across both domestic and continental competitions."

Building for Europe

United hope to be busy in the transfer window as boss Marc Skinner looks to strengthen his team for the knockout stages of the Women's Champions League.

They have also secured a contract extension with key midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has agreed through to the summer of 2029.
