Combatants smirk as they travel on the rear of a pick-up truck, hurrying past a series of nine dead bodies and driving towards the descending Sudanese sun.

"Observe all this effort. Look at this instance of genocide," a fighter exclaims.

He grins as he points the video equipment on his person and his associate fighters, their RSF badges visible: "These people will all die in this manner."

The combatants are celebrating a massacre that humanitarian officials fear killed over 2,000 civilians in the Sudan's urban center of el-Fasher in recent weeks.

An Urban Center Isolated from the Outside

Having held the urban area under siege for approximately two years, from the summer the paramilitary force advanced to reinforce its dominance and prevent access for the leftover inhabitants.

Orbital photography show that fighters commenced to build a massive berm - a built-up sand barrier - around the edges of the city, closing entry points and preventing relief supplies.

While the blockade escalated, seventy-eight individuals were murdered in an RSF attack on a place of worship on September 19th, while the international organization said dozens more were murdered in drone and artillery bombardments on a refugee settlement in fall.

Explicit Recording Reveals Unarmed People Executed

By sunrise on 26 October the RSF conquered the last government positions and seized the central headquarters in the city, the main facility of the 6th Infantry Division, as the army pulled back.

Among the most horrific videos to appear and analysed revealed the aftermath of a mass killing at a university building on the western of the community, where scores lifeless forms were visible spread throughout the floor.

A senior individual clad in a white tunic remained isolated amongst the corpses. He rotated to glance as a fighter carrying with a rifle proceeded down the staircase in the direction of him. pointing his firearm, the fighter fired a one round at the man, who dropped to the floor lifeless.

"Why is this one even alive," one fighter shouted. "Shoot this one."

Space-based imagery captured on October 26th appeared to substantiate that killings were furthermore conducted on the thoroughfares of al-Fashir, based on a report published by the university analysis team.

An observer who provided testimony stated the individual had witnessed "numerous of our family members being massacred - they were collected in a single location and all killed."

RSF Leaders Try to Conduct Damage Control

During the period that came after the killings, paramilitary leader conceded that his forces had perpetrated "violations" and announced the occurrences would be examined.

Part of the arrested was subsequent to a report recording his killings. Carefully staged and produced recording posted on the militia's official Telegram account reveal the commander being led into a prison room at a jail on the outskirts of al-Fashir.

Meanwhile, the RSF and affiliated social media channels started seeking to alter the story.

Updates depicting its combatants providing supplies to civilians were shared by several individuals, while the force's media office released multiple recordings allegedly to display the proper management of government prisoners of war.

In spite of the online campaign being deployed by the paramilitary, their actions in el-Fasher have provoked international outrage.
